Position Overview: ABC Recycling Ltd. is seeking a part-time Scale Operator to be based out of our Abbotsford, B.C. location. Reporting to the Office Manager, the Scale Operator is the first line of service for our customers visiting our busy facility. The Scale Operator is responsible for running our scale, assisting with dispatching our trucking fleet, as well as providing relief to the Office Manager as required. The ideal candidate for this position will possess exceptional customer service skills, be able to work in high stress/fast paced work environments and want to learn about the daily operation of the scrap metal industry. Knowledge about the various types of metals will be considered an asset. Shift Schedule: * Monday-Wednesday. * 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. * 24 hours per week.Responsibilities * Greets customers and record their relevant information for processing in a professional and friendly manner. * Identifies and grades materials. * Processes customer payment tickets using various payment methods. * Prepares paperwork for outbound shipments. * Communicates to yard staff via two-way radio. * Answers and directs incoming telephone calls. * * Assists management with service requests from customers to determine the most efficient and effective trucking services. * Assists management in planning, coordinating, and dispatching daily trucking requirements to internal and third-party carriers as required by facilities (and customers) for local and long-haul requirements. * Tracks and monitors all incoming containers for accurate invoicing. * Document controls, data entry, and file maintenance. * Builds and updates spreadsheets as needed. * Maintains a clean and presentable office environment. * Handles and issues cash/cheque as forms of payment. * Reconciles cash drawer at the end of the day. * Performs other general office duties when required.Qualifications * Previous experience using POS systems and/or ERP software. * Proficient using Microsoft Office products. * Ability to multitask, work independently, and under pressure. * Excellent attention to detail and time management skills. * Strong oral and written communication skills. * Positive attitude, customer service orientation, and a want to help people. * Prior administrative experience is an asset.Pay * $20.00 per hourWhy Work for ABC Recycling * Make a Difference:Join us in meaningful work that has a positive impact on the environment and contributes to a sustainable future. * Industry Leader:Be part of the largest metal recycler company in Western Canada, where industry-leading practices drive our success. * Comprehensive benefits package:Extended health & dental, healthcare spending account, group RRSP with employer matching, employee & family assistance program. * Volunteer Opportunities:Give back to our local communities with paid volunteer time. * Recognition and Growth:Experience employee recognition programs and opportunities for professional development and career advancement.*We are an equal opportunity employer and thank you for your interest.
