Position:Housing Coordinator Classification:Full-time, Permanent 35 hours per week Salary:$40,000-$60,000 annually. Dependent on experience Location:Yunesit’in, Hanceville BC- 1 hour and 15 minutes from Williams Lake, BC Closing Date: Until Filled The Yunesit’in Government is seeking a full-timeHousing Coordinatorto join our team and work closely with the Yunesit’in team and various departments, including the Tsilhqot’in National Government (TNG) on implementing plans and concentrated investment towards renovation and new housing initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to coordinate the Housing Portfolio for Yunesit’in Government. The Yunesit’in community is experiencing growth in housing, with anticipated construction underway. It is unique as it has its Housing Policy in place, a local Construction team, and ownership of two mills that supports capacity from ‘Forest to Frame’. The Yunesit’in Government has also developed a network of partners, such as the First Nations Market Housing Fund and the Ecotrust Canada Homelands Initiative, to build support and capacity. A successful candidate will be expected to bring leadership, knowledge of housing and lands, technical financial and administrative support, and the ability to foster relationships with the community, Tsilhqot’in Nation and partners in the region. The Yunesit’in Nation continues to assert their rights and protect their land. They are actively involved in resource management decisions that affect their territory, striving to maintain a balance between economic development and environmental sustainability. Preference will be given to those of Aboriginal Ancestry- Section 16(1)Canadian Human Rights Act. Responsibilities * Work effectively with Yunesit’in Council, Housing Committee, and affiliated staff; * Communicate, coordinate, engage and report to the Yunesit’in Council, Housing Committee and community to update and seek directions on Housing related activities; * Develop a Housing Work Plan based on the direction and initiatives started at Yunesit’in; * Collaborate effectively with the TNG Housing Authority and align the vision and work to meet community needs; * Maintain responsibility for projects and budgets related to Housing; * Attend meetings and assist in coordinating actions that arise; * Maintain the Housing office files to ensure trust and confidentiality; * Maintain and seek further partnerships and financing to support capacity building such as training and workshops; * Use the Yunesit’in Housing Policy as a guide to implement fair distribution of resources; * From the Housing Policy, coordinate processes for renovations and hew housing; * Work diligently with the community on existing Housing Strategies; * Review and implement effective, yet fair, rental payments; * Support the development and enforcement of land use plans, housing plans or by-laws implemented by Council; * Other duties as requiredQualifications * A combination of education and experience would be ideal; * Respectful individual with demonstrated project management experience and the ability to work independently and as part of a team; * The ideal candidate would have a combination of cultural knowledge and sensitivity with technical experience with housing, lands or infrastructure; * Excellent communication skills including public speaking, and proposal/report preparation; * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint; * Valid BC Drivers license, ability and willingness to travel to remote communities and travel to meetings outside of the region is required; * Proven record of successful working relationships with/for First Nations is a strong asset, as well as a successful experience working with other governments; * Flexible work schedule to partake in evening engagement sessions and events if necessary;Please send your resume, cover letter, and 3 references to: Brittany Hutchins HR Manager Email: bhutchins@yunesitin.ca Only those invited to interview will be contacted.
